Our RBLI heritage

Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) is an independent charity set up to provide welfare, healthcare and housing principally for the ex-Service community – and to provide employment opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people.

The British Legion Village at Aylesford was originally established in 1919 as a centre for TB patients returning form the First World War. A settlement of houses, workshops, a medical centre and amenities developed and eventually became a village community. Since then our activities have grown and developed in many ways, with today’s RBLI providing a variety of care, housing and employment opportunities for many people from all backgrounds. We aim to provide a quality service in each area of these activities. Our purpose-built residential nursing home, Gavin Astor House, was opened in 1993.
