Your room
Your bedroom will offer you security and privacy – you will have your own key to lock the door if you want to, and your carers will respect your privacy by knocking before they enter. For your extra comfort you will have individual control over the central heating radiators in your room, so it will always be just the right temperature for you. And your own private en-suite shower and toilet will ensure that your personal hygiene needs can always be met with dignity and privacy.
The furnishings in Gavin Astor House nursing home are high quality and we will provide you with your own large wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet – or you can bring your own furniture if you would prefer to. Before you move in the carpets in your room will have been freshly cleaned or replaced, as appropriate, and you may have an opportunity to help choose the décor..You are welcome to bring your own personal items to make your room your own – and by the time you’ve unpacked your things and displayed your treasured photos, favourite ornaments and other bits and pieces it’ll feel just like home.
Each room in our nursing home is equipped with a TV point. For your extra privacy and comfort we also provide a telephone point, so if you would prefer your own line, you can choose to have one installed (at your own expense). Alternatively, trolley payphones are available for use in residents’ bedrooms.
A call bell is located in each room, and if and when you need assistance, pressing this will call one of our staff to your aid. Call bells are detachable and can be kept with you at all times that you are within range of the building, so you can still explore the gardens safe in the knowledge that help is always at hand.
