Gavin Astor House Nursing Home has an Activities Co-ordinator who plans a wide variety of events and regular activities that offer something for everyone.

Activities at Gavin Astor House Nursing Home include:

• film afternoons
• bingo
• armchair exercises
• knitting club
• reminiscence group
• one-to-one pet therapy
• art classes
• games
• entertainment of choice

Additionally, outside entertainers regularly come in to sing, dance or entertain us in some other way, and we regularly hold themed events such as Fireworks night, Halloween, Summer BBQ, and seasonal ‘fayres’. So much to do...

We are fortunate to have our own minibuses that are used regularly for outings including shopping trips, visits to the local garden centre, riverboat trips, days out at the seaside, the zoo, or to tourist attractions such as Leeds Castle and Chatham Dockyards. We can also take residents to church services locally, if they do not wish to attend those held on-site.

Relatives and friends are also able to book our wheelchair-accessible minibus to take residents out for trips or shopping, and are covered under our fully comprehensive insurance policy.

Friends of Gavin Astor House

Many of the events and activities we provide are due to the exceptional generosity and hard work of the ‘Friends of Gavin Astor House’ who are very active in enriching life in the home by planning and organising events and fundraising.

The Friends of Gavin Astor House also produce an informative and entertaining newsletter twice a year for residents and their families to enjoy.
