Gavin Astor House Nursing Home is exceptionally fortunate to be supported by a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) who visits the Home regularly as well being ‘on call’ in emergencies. The doctor will carry out routine medication reviews and be readily available for family members to discuss any concerns they may have about their relative.
The VMO is especially qualified to deal with the particular health conditions affecting our residents, and has a deeper understanding of their issues than most local GP's would normally possess. For this reason most of our residents or their families choose to take up the opportunity for this convenient, expert and reassuring service. Alternatively, residents may choose to retain the services of their own GP.
A wide range of additional medical services are readily accessible locally, and we enjoy the benefit of excellent support from other health professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapist, dietician, speech and language therapists, optician and dentist.
